Modular bus shelter
Following our research into more sustainable public transport we developed a new, modular concept for bus shelters. These shelters are built using recycled materials as much as possible; all used materials can be separated easily and re-used at the end of the shelter’s life-cycle. The design with it’s characteristic transparent corners reduces the amount of materials for the structure. The roof can be equipped with sedum, glass or glass with PV-cells. These roof-options can be exchanged, even after the shelters have been installed. The MKI-score (Environmental Impact Score) of this shelter is about 75% lower than that of an existing standard shelter. The shelter is available in different sizes, from 3 to 8 units. OFN has won a tender for 136 new bus shelters for the city of Amersfoort with this design. The Amersfoort shelters have a mix of sedum green roofs, glass with PV-cells and glass.
